Overview
Wrinkle Essence claims to be a very powerful moisturizing serum that uses Trehalose as its main ingredient. Wrinkle Essence is manufactured by a company known as DHC, which claims to be “the number one direct mail skincare company in Japan”. DHC has been in business for over 25 years and has many different products available on its official website. Some of the products available from DHC are cleansers, toners, fine line fighters, baby care products, and a line of men's beauty products.
Wrinkle Essence is one of five different products under the “fine line fighters” category on the official website. This product claims to help fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also helping protect your skin cells from deteriorating. The official product description on the DHC website is little more than a paragraph so it's hard to get a feel for how well this product works.
Product Details
Wrinkle Essence uses the very uncommon ingredient trehalose, and also contains hyaluronic acid and elastin. While hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturizer and elastin may help encourage your skin to repair its own elastin, trehalose is more of a mystery.
Trehalose is also known as mycose and is naturally produced by plants, invertabrates, and certain mushrooms. This substance can retain water amazingly well, which makes it a great compound to use in anti-aging products and foods. Trehalose seems to be very similar to hyaluronic acid and by using them both in one product, your skin should appear very smooth and be able to retain a lot of moisture for a very long time.
The Good
- Wrinkle Essence contains two powerful moisturizers in hyaluronic acid and trehalose.
- DHC, the manufacturer of Wrinkle Essence, have a very good reputation around the Internet and have been in business for a long time.
The Bad
- There is no scientific data available on the Wrinkle Essence website. Clinical trials and any other studies are non-existent.
- There are no testimonials posted on the official website.
- This product doesn't contain any powerful, long term wrinkle fighters.
The Bottom Line
Wrinkle Essence contains trehalose which doesn't seem to be included in many wrinkle fighters in the US and Europe. Trehalose actually seems like it might be a great moisturizer and, as this product also contains hyaluronic acid, another moisturizer, there is no doubt this product will make your skin soft.
The only real problems we have with Wrinkle Essence are the lack of data and testimonials on the official site. It's very hard to judge how effective a product is without some type of feedback from previous consumers of that product. Wrinkle Essence also doesn't seem to be much of a wrinkle fighter by itself. It will surely moisturize your skin, but you may want to add a powerful wrinkle fighter to your skin care regimen if you really want to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles.
